Dong Fang Hong, "Eastern Beauty Red," is a newer style of tea that combines oolong and red tea processing methods. The tea leaves of Dong Fang Hong are tumbled and shaken in the yaoqing, which is a bamboo cylinder used to mix and bruise the leaves. This encourages the leaves to begin oxidation and the formation of multi-faceted aromas and flavors of fruits and flowers. This tea has a tropical nectar taste reminiscent of Darjeeling muscatel but with a uniquely strong orchid and rose presence that is coupled with nuances of fermented fruits and honey often associated with classical Eastern Beauty oolong.
Use water cooled to 200°F.
Do not rinse this tea.
Infuse the 1st brew for 2-3 minutes.
Repeat several times until the flavor and aroma of the tea dissipates. As the brewing session ensues, increase the infusion time to coax out the body and strength of the final infusions.

Lovely Oolong
I don’t have much to say about this one other than it is a lovely oolong. I’m pleased with the flavor
...
and quality. Especially happy to see it is organic. I did slightly reduce the recommended tea to water ratio to get it “just right” for my taste buds. I would order it again!

Something missing
Is it just me or could some of these Yunnan varietals use some time to age? The first infusions are generally
...
overwhelming while subsequent ones leave something to be desired. A shame because they are lovely teas.
